arrow  The Arts Alliance is proud to support music in the Hudson Public Schools by administering the Afterschool Band Lesson Program. After school band lessons are offered during the school year to students in grade 4 and older. Lessons encompass instruction in woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments. They also include spring recitals (scheduled for April 23 – 26, 2012) where students and teachers perform beautiful musical selections.

Students participating in the Hudson Public Schools Band program in grades 4 and 5 must take lessons outside the school day. Students in grades 6 – 12 are encouraged to continue with lessons. These are the choices available:

  • 30 Minute Group Lesson (3-5 students on same instrument): $295.00 for the year (27 lessons)
  • 30 Minute Semi-Private Lesson (2 students per group on same instrument): $390.00 for the year (27 lessons)
  • 20 Minute Private Lesson (less time than the Semi-Private, but one-on-one instruction): $390.00 for the year (27 lessons)
  • 30 Minute Private Lesson: $520.00 for the year (27 lessons)
Financial aid is available. The completed financial aid form must accompany the registration.

We try to give everyone the type of lesson they request, however it may be impossible to group some students together given instrument choice, day of week, time of day, school requested, etc.

The Hudson Public Schools recommended instrument supplier is Leonard's Music: www.leonardsmusic.com . They have excellent quality instruments at competitive prices (their pricing is in line with or less than other area suppliers). These are the regular rental rates for instruments:

  • Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion Kit (Drum Pad and Bell Set): $22.00 plus tax and insurance per month ($26.38 total)
  • Alto Saxophone: $35.00 plus tax and insurance per month ($41.19 total)
  • Oboe: $39.51 plus tax and insurance per month ($46.50 total)
  • French Horn: $44.87 plus tax and insurance per month ($52.81 total)
